What We've Done
ModaMatters and Warehouse On Watts were the first two official Study Hall partner projects. With both of these engagements — and with every other one we’ve taken on — we used a ‘think big and get started’ approach, helping each business to assess their strengths and assets, develop clear visions and plans, and then connect to — and cultivate — community and talent, in order to make big things happen and enable them realize their full potential.
Using the startup studio model, we’re making it possible to take this same network-powered, project-based approach to help more entrepreneurs, startups, brands, and businesses to make big things happen too!
Warehouse On Watts, our first community space, is a funky, gritty, old rope factory and former nightclub space in North Philadelphia. Prior to our involvement, W.O.W. had operated sporadically as an event venue and was home to two office tenants, before being shut down by L&I and losing their special assembly permit. We teamed up with W.O.W. to craft a bold vision for the space and community, presented it to the city to secure necessary permits and get up and running, ran a 5-week-long pop-up event to introduce artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, and community organizations to the space — and each other. Since then, Warehouse On Watts has been fully operational as an event space and has hosted of dozens social, community, and professional events.
ModaMatters is an Italian-inspired custom menswear brand that was built and bootstrapped in Philadelphia, by founder Francesco Reale, a corporate executive for an Italian helicopter manufacturer. What started as coffee meetings, evolved into advisorship and then full partnership to help ModaMatters build, launch, and grow to the next level. Since teaming up, Moda has local and national press, collaborated with well-known style influencers, complementary lifestyle brands, and renowned fashion houses, and with our help, Francesco was able to leave his corporate job and take ModaMatters from a kitchen table hobby business, to an wildly popular luxury retail brand with a national presence and a team of 8 people.
